FAQs - Wedding Photography
When you're planning your wedding, you'll have so many questions about what is you should expect from your suppliers, how your day might run and what exactly you'll be paying for.
Wedding photography is no exception, and every wedding photographer will have their own policies - so here are some Frequently Asked Questions on the services I offer.
Q: Do you travel for weddings?
A: Absolutely! Whether it's within Scotland or beyond, I love travelling for a wedding. Exploring & travelling is something I love to do. All transport & accommodation costs are included in the price for Mainland Scotland weddings, so whether you're marrying in Edinburgh or Urqhuart Castle, there's no additional charge for me to photograph your wedding. For further a-field, such as the Islands or abroad, a bespoke quote on transportation costs will be provided before your book.
Q: Is 8hrs enough for a full day wedding?
A: Definitely. Unlike some other wedding photographers, your 8hrs is the time I'm spending taking photos. I don't deduct the time it takes to serve your meal from your coverage duration. That means we'll get roughly 6hrs continuous coverage before your meal, and 2hrs afterwards which fits with most wedding timelines. If you'd prefer to mix and match that, and split 5hrs / 3hrs then that's something we can work out during our wedding planning calls. If things do overrun a little, don't worry - that's to be expected on any wedding day. If things are running significantly behind, I'll ask you how you'd like to proceed and if you'd like me to stay for an additional fee then that's fine too.
Q: Do you offer additional hours?
A: Yes. Unless you are absolutely sure you'll need additional hours at the point of booking - such as you want sunset photos in summer (it's about 10pm around the solstice) - then I advise to hold off purchasing additional hours until you know you'll definitely need them. That might be 1-2 months before the big day, and we'll discuss about it in more detail during our planning sessions. Additional hours are charged at £200/hr.
Q: Do you offer Wedding Albums?
A: Yes. My wedding albums come with a huge range of gorgeous fabric choices - all from sustainable sources and environmentally friendly. They also come with bespoke engraving in silver or gold foiling, and there's a range of sizes to choose from. My Prosecco and Champagne Wedding Sessions include an album, but you can add on a wedding album to any digital only collection as well - whether that's as part of your booking, a few months later or up to 12 months after your wedding date. You will have the opportunity to select 75-100 candidate images, and I'll design the interior layout. Before it goes to print, you'll be able to proof the interior and suggest any changes like swapping out a photo.
Q: When will I receive my gallery?
A: My guideline is 4-6 weeks, with up to 8 weeks during the busy summer months. I'll always endeavour to deliver within these time periods, and I also offer priority editing which means you'll jump to the top of my editing queue and you'll have a full gallery delivered within 2 weeks.
Q: How do I receive my images?
A: You'll receive your full gallery - which contains full res, watermark-free images - through an online password protected link. From there you can download all your images, view them online and you are free to share this link with your friends & family. Your gallery also contains an online shop from which you can purchase smaller prints - such as 6x9".
Q: Will my images be used in your portfolio & social media?
A: Whilst the copyright for your images remains with me (standard UK practice), I will always honour any requests to keep your images private. When I deliver your gallery, you'll have an opportunity to opt-out of portfolio & social media use. You can also limit the number of images I use, or make a special request for me to not use any images of children that were present at your wedding.
Q: How do I book you for my wedding?
A: I'm proud to have one of the simplest booking systems in Scotland integrated with my website. Just navitage over to pricing, select the package that's right for you and hit the Request Booking option. Once I've accepted the booking, a Client Portal will be created for you and you'll receive the Contract and link to make payment on the deposit / retainer fee within. Your booking is managed through this portal, so any change you'd like to make can be done through here.
Q: What's the payment schedule? Can I make early payments?
A: A deposit is required on point of booking, and the balance is then payable 6 weeks before your wedding day. You'll automatically receive a reminder about that, so no need to note it in your calendar. If you'd prefer to make early payments, or to have a personal payment calendar then this is something that absolutely can be arranged at no additional cost - so long as the balance is paid by the 6 week deadline.
